Nor' easter

I was a naysayer. I did not think we would get hit by anything significant. (I may still be right) But I did have to cancel the shopping trip and Christmas Party. The party is resceduled for Christmas Eve Eve (a.k.a. Sunday, December 23rd) The shopping trip may come later. For radar action: http://www.wcax.com/Global/link.asp?L=280856

Be safe!

Drive-by Caroling

Several unsuspecting residents of Bristol, VT were victims of random kindness on Sunday night. It was reported that three vehicles full of loud teenagers were randomly selecting people to "sing" at. It was unclear what the students were singing but one man, whose identity will be concealed, thought he might have heard something that sounded like "Joy to the World"

Snow Day = Job Match

In theory this would have worked. The forecast called for 8-10 inches of snow and we knew that school would probably be cancelled. The idea was to get a bunch of us together to drive down to Bristol village and shovel snow for money. Picture this: 8 people in the back of a pick-up with shovels, using road cones to amplify their voices as they screamed "We shovel for money!"
We woke up on Monday morning to very little snow. So we waited a few hours. Finally the storm hit. I figured by 3:30pm there would be enough to hit the streets. At around 3pm I spoke to Sheri Rowinski and she said Bristol had about 1/2 inch. Grrr.
Instead of cancelling, the six of us shoveled Burnham Hall, Weathervane and the church. After that we played football behind the Brown's. MVP: Emily Wood.

December News

A few weeks ago I was in Niagara Falls, NY on business. Growing up I had heard about and seen pictures/video of the water fall in that town. It’s quite famous; I’m sure everyone is familiar with Niagara Falls. My time out there was short and I was very busy. As I was driving over the bridge that spans the Niagara River, I looked to my left and saw, about half a mile away, a large cloud of mist. “Wow” I said, “there it is.” And I kept driving. To this day, I still have never seen the Niagara Falls.
Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ. Everyone knows that, right? Probably. But I imagine most people are so busy with “life” that they merely notice, from a distance, a faint picture of Christmas. Perhaps they’ve never been up-close, in person, with the story of Christmas. If you get a moment, check out:

Sometimes you have to apprehend the “end” before you can comprehend the “start”. I pray you all have a faith filled month.
